Pastor Biography

   

The Rev. Stephen E. Bryant, Sr. was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He is the middle child of three children born to the late Deacon Claude E. Bryant and Mrs. Cynthia L. Bryant. 

Rev. Bryant is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and was appointed to St. James AME Church located in East Millstone, New Jersey by Bishop Richard Franklin Norris. During his tenure he was responsible for growing a fledgling congregation and leading the restoration effort of an uninhabitable parsonage. Under his leadership, the First Episcopal District was able to save the property and continue ministry efforts in the Somerset community. Subsequently, he was appointed to the pastorate St. Mark AME Church, located in Cranford, New Jersey. During his tenure, the congregation experienced increased growth in many areas. His leadership and vision of winning souls for Christ and making disciples positioned the church to carry out the great commission in the Union County area. He was a member of the Cranford Clergy Council.

Most recently, Bishop Gregory Gerald McKinley Ingram appointed Rev. Bryant to the Pastorate of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church located in Hightstown, NJ. Under his leadership the church has experienced sustained growth ,community involvement, and renovated the parsonage. Additionally, Rev. Bryant serves as both the Coordinator of Evangelism and Church School Superintendent for the New Brunswick District. 

Rev. Bryant earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communication and a Master of Arts Degree in Education, Rowan University, Glassboro, New Jersey. He earned a Master of Divinity Degree, New Brunswick Theological Seminary, New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Rev. Bryant is married to Renee M. Bryant. They are the parents of three children; Yakeema S. Cobb, Ariel A. Bryant and Stephen E. Bryant, Jr. Most importantly he values his unwavering commitment to his relationship with Jesus Christ and family.
